Jul 11, 2008 - She should just be blowing out a single candle flame to a blackened stage at the end of this tormented torch song! Not even the upsweeping winds can pick up spirits! No one could pull this off like Connie could!

Jul 12, 2008 - This makes me wish the Connie would've done a movie like Helen Morgan or Love Me Or Leave Me...she is so much more than Where the Boys Are; don't get me wrong; I love fluff but with her talent and charisma..hmmmm

Jul 16, 2008 - I agree with you. She tried to make it in movies early on, but she has always said it wasn't really her passion. And unfortunately, MGM gave her some really lousy material to work with, as well. She gave up after four tries! I have always been in awe of her ability to emote so convincingly in her songs. There really wasn't anything she couldn't sing, from fluff to magnificent material - and she made it all sound so wonderful. Ken

Aug 21, 2008 - Surprisingly good rendition of this number! I've always liked Connie's singing, but am surprised at the shading and inflection she gives to this beautiful sad song. Well done!

Aug 21, 2008 - So glad you like it! Connie's range and talent was so far beyond her teeny-bopper hits, but many people don't realize it because they aren't familiar with most of her outstanding LP projects. I've read that she was terribly disappointed when this album failed to chart - she had high hopes for it taking her beyond "Teen Queen" status. Her material just got better and better as the years went on. "A New Kind of Connie" is an example. I've posted several songs from that LP. Thanks for writing!
