SWARC 8.0 - August 2004Red Square: Kill Switch III (Newfac Robotics / Team Psygnosis)Blue Square: Buzz (Team Mech Monsters)Buzz is a robot that scared the hell out of us, it quickly became a threat after witnessing it win KO after KO, especially the gruesome dismemberment of Detonator, which decorated Buzz's weapon with tire treads.Fortunately for us we were able to damage Buzz early on. At the beginning of the fight we get under Buzz and take total control while its saw starts spinning, however this put us at a disadvantage because if we ran him into the wall, it would fly over us and Buzz's saw would cut off our antenna in the process. We bumped him around a bit when it started to move Buzz was sent reeling into the wall. The robot was never able to really get going full speed, we kept on him and prevented him from moving around and stopped the saw blade at every opportunity.The screeching you begin to hear is because Buzz was weighing down that corner of KS3 and it was dragging on the arena floor. They had to separate the robots because we couldn't really maneuver him around with all that weight on one corner, and neither of Buzz's wheels were touching anything.Kill Switch III waltzed off with a 7/2 judges decision, and I distinctly remember fixing the "damage" from this fight by coloring in the scratches on the robot with a black marker. :P(Video shot by: Glenn Pipe)
