Nov 19, 2008 - Chakotay can't half proscrastinate, like.

Nov 19, 2008 - thank you chromalia! you keep me going...thank you. :)

Nov 19, 2008 - "I'm not unreasonable." Bullshit. She sounds exactly like the religious zealots of our own planet. How much further would we be if knowledge and scientific research hadn't been repressed, shunned, and looked upon with disdain by the Church? It's amazing how many parallels can be drawn from shows if you know what to look for.
JCStrickland Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - I couldnt agree more. Her only way of dealing with anything is by threats and intimidational tactics that are centuries behind most sentient cultures.

Nov 19, 2008 - i think that is exactly what they had in mind when they wrote this episode. religion is destructive and we need to finally leave it behind. watch "Religilous" with Bill Maher, it is a comedic take on this subject!
Keeva2006 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - There's no doubt in my mind that that's exactly what their intentions were when they wrote this episode. Look through the various Star Trek and even other Sci-Fi series (Babylon 5 springs to mind,) and you can spot many political and social messages. It's nothing new, though. Popular shows and other forms of media have been a springboard for various messages for decades.

Nov 19, 2008 - T-REX LIVES !
SzokkozS Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - cool...
Glitcher2000 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - I prefer to call the Voth "Dinosaucers". Now all we need is Genghis Rex and his evil Tyrannos. XD
Perion Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - problem is the way she is acting is identical to the way that the modern scientific community treats those who so much as suggest that evolution might be wrong, a perfectly good professor, considered the pride of a university, could write a paper suggesting the mere notion of intelligent design, would face pressure very similar to this (although not as lethal and whatnot)Religilous is a farce, disrespectful, and completely out of line, you should see "Expelled: No intelligence Allowed"
Kilmanan Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Sorry but I'm a Christian and I also believe in evolution & natural selection. I, personally, don't believe that believing in God and believing in evolution are mutally exclusive, but most people do. Some Christians might not believe in Evolution, but they're entitled to an opinion & that doesn't mean every Christian looks upon evolution with disdain.Sorry but it just annoys me how Christians are generalised as unscientific & unintelligent.
Keeva2006 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - You misunderstood. I wasn't attacking those who have level heads, and happen to be believers. I was attacking the fanatics, those people who can't possibly fathom the mere thought of a scientific explanation for matters existing. Believe it or not, but I grew up Catholic. I know the Church's position now. But that doesn't mean that I'll turn a blind eye to their position in the past.
elziebean100 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - exactly, if science had been repressed by the church we'll probably still be in the Black Death era rofl XD
DShadow911 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Church and science do butt heads but both are very necessary for people. Science provides our reason and religion provides our faith. Even in the 24th century religion exists so there you have it!
TheArkansasTraveller Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - great episode!
Repelsteeltje444 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Awesome episode, well thought out, cool ideas.
gamergod88 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Personally I believe science merely explains the concept of a creator. Science has all sorts of explanations for all sorts of things but the number of unexplained subjects greatly out weighs the number of explained ones. Who is to say that 'God' didn't intend for evolution to occur? Obviously evolution has a greater plausibility than just magically appearing into existence, but that original 'spark' had to come from somewhere. Also I agree that narrow-mindedness holds us back.
nebulan Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Agreed. I think the most important message of this episode is to have an open mind. No one should believe their beliefs blindly.
Zerathul123 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - ty chromalia you rock :D
