According to David Reeves, the PSP 3000 will have a built-in microphone, and an enhanced LCD screen. It will retain the size and features of the current, slimmed-down PSP (PSP-2000). That's a screenshot of it up there. The unit will launch on October 15 in PAL territories, tagged at EUR 199. Full break down below:- The LCD screen will have a wider color gamut and higher contrast ratio to deliver deeper, more vibrant colors, as well as anti-reflection technology so you can see the screen more clearly when playing outdoors. As you all know, the PSP's screen is a key strength of the hardware, and this update adds an absolutely dazzling LCD screen to the handheld.- A built-in microphone allows for Skype calls and multi-player gaming communication directly from the hardware - eliminating the need for attaching a separate headset.Update: For those of us outside of Europe, the PSP-3000 will be launched in North America as part of two packs. One of the packs will be the Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters PSP Entertainment bundles which will be released on October 14th. The other pack will be a 4GB Entertainment Pack which is due out in November. Both packs will be retailed at US $199.99. Nov 19, 2008 - hacking and pirating is hard to do on the current PSP 2000. i tried downloading a pirated version of Crisis Core and after like a minute i had the pirated game on the PSP, sony corrupted the file and the game didn't work. soo i just went to Best Buy and bought the damn game

Nov 19, 2008 - dont even care im not a big hardcore game freak or someone who has no life. i have a psp that i dont use except when playing killzone liberation online i wanna get a new ipod touch no t another stupid psp with a few changes. for those of u who already own a working psp but have nothing better to do, or has no life, go ahead and spend $200 additional dollars on another stupid model that they're going to update a year from now.

Nov 19, 2008 - noone knows yet, the 3000 was announced but they got fcc approval for 3001 so 3001 will probably come out later...it wont bring anything innotive, just a motherboard change or a slight redesign...if your going to get a psp just get the 3000 when it comes out in october, the 3001 isnt going to be anything big and it will probably be like 5 months before its released

I bet the real reason for this model isnt to bring in innovations but its to try and stop or reduce all hacking on the PSP. Im not sure whether to get my PSP for the ability to hack while i can, or to wait and see what SONY confirms.
