The LTTE terrorists are facing a serious dispute of safeguarding their traditional camps sited in the Mullaitivu jungles. Our special representative Anura Dorakumbura reporting from the battlefront referred to the serious challenges the terrorists are encountering. He said fierce fighting was raging in the Mullaitivu jungles while the security forces were pursuing the LTTE terrorists in a gallant march through the jungles. The advancing forces have already overcome LTTE bastions. In the prevailing situation there is a chance that the LTTE might lose the Mullaitivu jungle where they sought refuge during their defeats to regroup themselves. The situation has drastically changed as the security forces are advancing towards Killinochchi from six fronts. The 59th Division has intensified their attacks targeting the terrorists who are lurking in the jungle. The LTTE is facing the risk of abandoning the entire One Four Base complex. The Armed Forces have captured the supply route which runs from Kokkuthuduwai to the interior. The High Security Zone of the tigers is about to collapse. The LTTE had built an open area of 200 metres with the assistance of civilians opposite their bunkers to sight the advancing Security Forces. Meanwhile, the security forces have surmounted all the challenges. Shortage of water within the jungle is the difficulty the LTTE is experiencing as the troops have captured all areas from where they secure drinking water. The only alternative for the LTTE is to abandon the Mullaitivu jungle.
