Aug 23, 2008 - Sometimes gerbils will bite just to taste you. They're generally very tame and don't bite unless they're cornered or angry at you. So, you either did something to piss him off, or he was just trying to figure out what your fingers taste like. :)

Aug 29, 2008 - Yeah I think that's probably true. He probably wasn't trying to be mean, just checking me out or taking a taste. For one thing, he nipped me but didn't even come close to breaking the skin. Mostly just surprised me, though I think it did hurt a little.

Oct 2, 2008 - My gerbil bit me once as well, but it was an accident.My finger nail was just barely long enough that Seamus seemed to think it was a hard edge to chew and got the skin -__-I forgive him he's cute and hilarious. He's the jokester- more outgoing and his brother is shy and lazy.Funny how even gerbils can have different/opposite personalities.

Oct 5, 2008 - Trust me, you'll know when they really try to bite you. One of mine bit me once and easily pierced my skin, she even took a little piece of finger with her, it hurts like hell.
