On May 5, 2001 we obtained audio and video of a silver perch producing its courtship sounds at Wallace Channel inOcracoke Inlet, North Carolina. The video was taken 5 May 2001 at 10:18 PM local time in 11 m (33 ft). You will hear the silver perch get louder as it approaches the hydrophones on the ROV. Also, you can hear the exclamation of surprise and delight as the scientist aboard the surface ship (Dr. Joe Luczkovich, East Carolina University Institute for Coastal and Marine Resources) is reporting the sound and video discovery to his crew members (Mark Sprague, ECU Physics Professor, and Glenn Taylor of the UNC Wilmington NURC program).
