A person familiar with test reults says Hardy has tested positive for a banned substance. (July 24)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] It was less than a month ago that American swimmer Jessica Hardy won the 100 meter breaststroke at the Olympic trials. She also qualified for the U-S team in the 50 meter freestyle, the four by 100 freestyle relay and the four by 100 medley relay. But her planned trip to Beijing could now be in jeopardy. A person familiar with drug test results tells the Associated Press that Hardy has tested positive for a banned substance, described as a stimulant. Hardy can now appeal to both the American Arbitration Association and the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Typically, a first-time doping offense results in a two-year ban. Hardy's agent says she told him that she never did anything wrong and that she never cheated. Jul 25, 2008 - Maybe, why do you blame her for trying too hard. If any cheating took place was with the U.S. Olympic commitee allowing it. you know. But the more serious competitions come along all the athletes who cheat just a little bit or look like they do (Torres) come under closer scrutiny by the international Olympic Commitee. The sad part of it was that she one of America's best hopes for taking back swimming.

Aug 1, 2008 - If she bowed out just to 'save the team', then take a lie detector test to vindicate yourself. I'm not buying it. She got caught. 'I have no clue how that got in my system'. We know at this level these athletes count every calorie. If its a bad supplement, then she should have the supplements tested and show the American people that she was really tricked. There's lots of things she can do to regain her credit.

Aug 2, 2008 - what upsets me is that their are athletes on the USA athletic team who are competing after serving a ban for drugs. Why even let them back into the sport, let someone new take their place. Marion jones classic example of how to spoil an olympics for another competitor who should have won gold
