Chris Harris joins the panel of Rodney Leconte & Lawrence Haber as we talk further on Pro Wrestling Fans & Their Influence/Role in the "sport/business." Did the internet ruin wrestling? If so, how? Are 'smarts' or 'smart marks' in the minority? Why do they have such a narrow view of wrestling, such a strict limit in their tastes? As many of our viewers want to know, why do we watch if we complain and/or don't enjoy the shows? That is, of course, IF we still watch, heh. Anyway, other questions include whether MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) delivers what wrestling used to, and is that why many fans are turning to that instead? Is wrestling in need of change in general? Are TNA fans watching that just to be different? What were we, the Roundtable, hoping to accomplish or influence by doing this very show? Why don't fans realize the power they have to influence the entire industry for good? Do they even know they have this power? Why don't they ever use it? How can they make a statement? Plus a special message of thanks to all of our viewers! Hosted by Eric Santamaria

Jul 30, 2008 - Booker already beat Joe for the belt right now so to me its like TNA pushing ex WWE wrestlers over their TNA top wrestlers as far age look at Hogan Booker T. I don't think he's too old just that it made Joe look weak even thou Booker did cheat to win

Mistertbones Says:

Aug 1, 2008 - No Eric, thank you!

BridgewatersFinest Says:

Aug 1, 2008 - Eric, I full-on agree with you that wrestling has lost a good deal of its lustre because we have all grown up and it hasn't necessarily advanced with us, but I hope you don't insinuate that that's a bad thing. The way I see it, WWE in particular *has* to stay at that level, to keep bringing "new blood" into the fanbase; if wrestling evolved with guys like us into our 20s, 30s, 40s, etc., what does it do when we ultimately move on or die? Complete 180 back to cartoonism? It's survival mechanism.

BridgewatersFinest Says:

Aug 1, 2008 - I don't necessarily agree with that, if you kept to that way of doing things, would you ever have had Tommy Dreamer and Sandman breaking down the dressing room wall in ECW? Would you ever have had the amazing APA backstage stuff with Bradshaw & Ron Simmons, or things of the like? Not saying that WWE has exactly done "we know we're scripted" well, but I don't think the answer to that is to "pretend it's real".

BridgewatersFinest Says:

Aug 1, 2008 - Mostly, I would too.

BridgewatersFinest Says:

Aug 1, 2008 - But you know, I really can't agree with the whole "there are no Triple H fans", or even the 10% estimate. There ARE few people who go to shows for just ONE PERSON (and if you're one of them, fuck off and save your money), but the MAJORITY of a WWE (now SmackDown) crowd will genuinely be a Triple H "fan" (depending how you quantify that word).

leconter Says:

Aug 2, 2008 - Thank you. Another example is this past Royal Rumble. It was a HUGE surprise when Cena was #30 because nobody knew. If it was rumored on the net that he was coming it would've taken away from the moment.-Rodney, Wrestling Roundtable

leconter Says:

Aug 2, 2008 - I've been a UFC fan for over ten years and I think more wrestling fans are starting to watch it because of how good they market their events. UFC's marketing is on point and their events always deliver. They have cards that I am really excited to watch because they give people what they want. I haven't been excited about a WWF event in years.

koryosborne Says:

Aug 2, 2008 - I totally agree with the marketing point. The UFC has cards that really excite me almost every time they have a ppv event. The WWE fails to do that and even now Wrestlemania has been a little disappointing. The only match I really was excited for this year was Flair VS. Micheals.

tommo1313 Says:

Aug 3, 2008 - fantastic show but i have to disagree about the triple h thing down here in australia i see alot of people wearing triple h shirts and people saying hes cool personally i dont care for him too much

fraserbee Says:

Aug 3, 2008 - I'm not sure the Dreamer/Sandman incident really exposes that wrestling is fake, just really emphasises how real that angle was supposed to look. My beef is with the really stuff that happened in WCW where a guy would come out and the announcer would say "this isn't in the script". That was horrible. Also when heels are seen plotting on the TV and then the next week the faces look so stupid because they still have no idea - surely someone would tell them! Really illogical that's all.

BridgewatersFinest Says:

Aug 3, 2008 - I looked at it moreso as showing, for the first time, heels and faces co-mingling and working together to "protect" an injured comerade, which is a notion that pushes far beyond just that particular angle. But I do certainly agree that when announcers are like "this isn't in the script!", it just kills the momentum of that angle and undercuts the sentiment for the fans. But with the whole "heel seen plotting on TV", just proves that (with WCW) not even their own talent watched their show ;-)

jtluttrell Says:

Aug 4, 2008 - No one watches the show for Triple H? I beg to differ, my friend. Trips mark for life.

jayfunk360 Says:

Aug 5, 2008 - half? not for the good wrestling matches then?

jason42072000 Says:

Aug 9, 2008 - the only thing that i miss about wrestling is the jump of a big superstar to a new company..like jerichos debut or big show comin up under the ring..or flair finally goin to wwf...those big moments that dont happen anymore...what now..oh my god undertakers on raw not smackdown..oooooh doesnt compare lol... i miss those moments...i think wrestling went downhill around the time that wcw did...

patg316 Says:

Aug 18, 2008 - well, as a smart fan, I think there are two groups of wrestlers I pull for. First are the entertainers who can generate crowd response from words and actions, like Hogan, Warrior and the Rock. The other type I cheer for are pure wrestling guys like Bryan Danielson, CM Punk and Samoa Joe. I am a 20 year fan, since Backlund-Sheik in 1983, and honestly, wrestling's problem right now is the biggest wrestling company, WWE pushes guys that neither entertain me or wrestle well: Cena, Batista, Orton.

homebrewer03 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I don't think that WWE is as good as it was when I was growing up. I see the potential that they have to put out a good product. My complaining comes from the constant miscues with the booking and the matchmaking, and because in my opinion, ROH provides a greater product and it gives me something not so great to compare it to.There have been times where I've been so mad watching such a bad product that I wouldn't tune in, but I'd rather watch wrestling than anything else...except football.

Sweetguy9009 Says:

Aug 24, 2008 - I have to agree with Santamaria and yes, I'm a WWE Mark and I am a mark for this webshow. Just wanted to get that out of the way. Jeff Hardy is a perfect example of a wrestler that is a total midcarder and Matt Hardy too that WWE fans no matter what brand they watch, have a voice. Look, at Shawn Michaels, look at John Cena, Steve Austin, and there are countless other names. That wrestling fans get behind and make them main eventers or want them to be. Am I incorrect in my thinking?

frehleyisgod Says:

Aug 24, 2008 - hey you fuck'n wannabe, cut your hair to look like chris jericho faggot...i'm a goddamn triple h fan.....and i will go to a show to see him and not care about the rest of the card...so fuck you...i have liked triple h from the days of the damn curtsey and the stupid harpsicord music...all the way to today with myself bowing down to the king of kings........but i guess that you don't like hhh because you're probably jealous that he figured out how to one day own the business...

toxicrexdawg Says:

Aug 25, 2008 - im lost about this whole subject cuz im kind of like rodney, just waiting for the competion to come back. im lost at how ppl get hot now of days, CM punk really hasnt showed me nothing. im sorry, i heard about him when had a good submission but than they banned it, so now he faces ppl twice the size as them and he's successfull??? i dont get it, i dont think there utilizing there talent. i think shelton benjamin is a way better champion then cm punk, maybe they need to tweek some characters.

fallenrosepetal Says:

Aug 28, 2008 - I figured the best example was MVP. He came out at first and everyone was comparing his attire to a power ranger outfit, but when he impressed the majority of the fans, they inturn got behind him and pushed him to where he is now

hitmanhart670 Says:

Aug 31, 2008 - I think the internet ruined wrestling a bit because it influenced in the way upcoming wrestlers took to their craft. People are more into trying to put on "5 star matches" with a million spots, because they think that's what it takes to be considered the best, but there a million little things that go into becoming great that they don't try to develop

tommo1313 Says:

Sep 11, 2008 - you guys are the few people who are right about this benoit situation i can't even watch a benoit match because all i can think of is what he did to his family

TruStory007 Says:

Sep 15, 2008 - smark are stupid b/c they love cm pumk but they hate cena stupid shit. But tna fans i watch tna and my intelligence get insultedand dudes watch it to be different.
