Mayor Emeritus Wayne Egglestoninvited us and saved us a parking spot to watch fireworks from the lofty perch of Park Semper Fi...the BEST place in San Clemente to view them. Wayne kindly invited all Marines and Marine/Military families to come there, but many did not get the word in time---next year there will be many, though we had about 50 there tonight. Wayne surprised us all with catered food, tables, chairs, etc. for a perfect chicken dinner (beans, stuffed baked potatos, salads, and more). Deb and I brought finger snacks and water. What a GREAT Fireworks show it was because the park looks directly down on the pier where they shoot the fireworks FROM. Retired, long time City Clerk, Myrna Erway and family were there, too, plus City Police Chief Paul, Mayor Emeritus Wayne and many other city figures.
